This is the first half of the painting process of Minako and Artemis’ illustration. I don’t know how it happened, but I didn’t realise ReLive had stopped recording halfway through .-.

But I also didn’t want to delete the first hour and 20 minutes of work, half of the entire process, so I thought to share it anyway (after days of debating, and that’s why I’m sharing it only now). I apologise, I hate uploading unfinished things too!

In short, what I do after detailing her face is paint her uniform, the bike, the railing, finish the trees and general foliage. I generally keep it on the same layer, but for big changes I use a new one and then merge it later. I’m not the most organised person, so I don’t keep that many layers. If I mess something up, I just paint over it. Not very smart, I know.

Then I adjust the lights with a big soft brush, low opacity, highlighting here and there. I use the colour lookup tool and choose a warm filter (this on a new layer, low opacity, because I want it to be subtle). Then I add Artemis and shadows. As a final touch, I add flares and petals, and make a few details glow, especially on the trees and the railing.

Now I’m recording another painting and I’m checking if ReLive is working every five minutes!
